Wendy Aldrich lives and works in Brighton & Hove, where she runs Floramania Interiors as a furniture upcycler and surface pattern designer. Her work draws inspiration from her hometown's architecture, interiors, and the city's bohemian heritage. She moved from Surrey to Brighton at twelve, and the city's creative spirit and unique streets have influenced her ever since. Wendy recalls her youth spent wandering the vibrant lanes where she was influenced by the unique, eclectic style. At thirty-eight, Wendy returned to university, where she trained in surface pattern design, printmaking, and colour theory, focusing on interiors and buildings. Her decision to retrain stemmed from a desire to deepen her artistic skills and explore new career opportunities. She was motivated by a personal turning point, realizing that her passion for creative design had grown beyond a hobby and could become a fulfilling profession. Her experience renovating older homes led her to upcycling, blending traditional methods with a modern approach. Wendy mainly uses Autentico paints to create custom furniture with layered, aged finishes that are both attractive and long-lasting. When starting a new project, her creative process begins with a deep exploration of the client's personal style and the space the furniture will occupy. She sketches initial ideas inspired by the elements of the surrounding environment, then selects a color palette that complements them. Wendy often experiments with textures, mixing paints and materials to create unique finishes. She also incorporates stencils and hardware to add intricate details. Moreover, she is developing new fabric designs through block and linocut printing, expanding her artistry

beyond furniture.
