Rare Bijouterie/Vitrine Style Dressing Table
The mirror does have extensive de-silvering but it is to be expected given the age of the piece. We think it adds to its charm.
It is a very light honey coloured wood possibly maple or satinwood but the egg and dart beading is darker as are the finials and small pediment.
Truly a delicate and decorative piece that will grace a beautiful home.
The History
Bijouterie tables are also called table vitrines, and display tables. A French word for a display cabinet, from the French 'vitre', or glass, and usually applied to a display cabinet of French origin. They were introduced in a modest way in 18th century France and became popular in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
